A lithe, blonde actress with model looks and a rock-and-roll attitude, Monet Mazur racked up acting credits with small roles in film and guest shots on television while fronting the popular Los Angeles punk outfit Nancy Raygun. Born in the mid-1970s to a fashion model mother and an artist father with several album covers to his credit ("I think I was conceived on a cross-country motorcycle trip"), Mazur spent her relatively average childhood dreaming of stardom and began her acting career with a role on the NBC daytime drama "Days of Our Lives" and a cameo in the comedy feature "Addams Family Values" in 1993. A recurring stint on "Party of Five" (Fox) in 1995 would gain her a wide audience, though that year's music-themed supernatural mystery "Raging Angels" would prove a lackluster vehicle for her feature starring debut. A small part in 1997's "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery" returned the actress to the big screen.

In 1999, she resurfaced in a bigger way, beginning with guest roles on "Jack & Jill", a twentysomethings romantic comedy series on The WB, and the ABC sci-fi drama "Strange Days". Unlike many of her contemporaries, Mazur was up-front about her age and didn't intend to make her way in teen fare while in her mid-twenties. The assured and unimpressed but mature and genuine way that she carried herself would help to separate her from the flock of pretty young blondes, and after paying her dues with bit parts in the 1999 features "The Mod Squad" and "Mystery Men" and impressing with a leading turn in the little-seen independent "The Learning Curve", Mazur got her break. Cast as one of Johnny Depp's cohorts in "Blow" (2001) Ted Demme's gritty look at the explosion of the cocaine trade in the United States, Mazur saw her profile rise quickly. She followed up with featured roles in the 2001 summer release "Angel Eyes" starring Jennifer Lopez and in 2002, and appeared with Josh Hartnet and Shannyn Sossamon in "40 Days and 40 Nights" (2002). The films, both with high profile stars and big marketing campaigns behind them, would make the actress a recognizable performer. The resulting attention undoubtedly helped give Mazur's career a deserved boost. Still active with her band, Mazur lined up additional acting projects that included the independent feature "In Memory of My Father" (lensed 2001), the crime comedy "Stark Raving Mad" (2002), the romantic drama "Kiss the Bride" (2002) and the Ashton Kutcher-Brittany Murphy comedy "Just Married" (2003). In 2004 she was the lead good girl biker babe in the high-octane but lowbrow motorcycle actioner "Torque," and she had a nice cult-fan scene in which she goes woman-to-woman against Jaime Pressly. She then had an arch supporting turn in the comedy "Monster-In-Law" (2005) as a spoiled, snobby but sexy rich girl who tries to keep Jennifer Lopez from landing her dream man (Michael Vartan).
