DANNY & MARTY TO REUNITE … MAYBE
I was wondering when Daniel Day-Lewis and Martin Scorsese might work together again. Scorsese is circling the film Silence, and Variety reports he's in talks with his old Gangs of New York buddy to star, along with Benicio Del Toro. Based on a Japanese novel, Day-Lewis and Del Toro would play 17th-century Jesuit priests sent to Japan to locate their mentor and to spread the gospel of Christianity, facing much violence and persecution along the way. Hmm, sounds a bit like The Mission, but I do smell a certain Oscar odor.
